Juvéderm™
What is Juvéderm™?
Juvéderm™ is a dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid in the form of a non-animal stabilized crystal clear gel. Hyaluronic acid is a natural occurring substance already existing in our bodies which provides volume and fullness to our skin. Juvéderm™ (hyaluronic acid) has a great affinity for attracting and binding to water adding volume hence the term; “dermal filler”. As with Botox, hyaluronic acid has been used for various other medical procedures, such as a treatment for osteoarthritis.. Prior filler’s such as collagen have been approved and used successfully for 20 years. It is fully biocompatible and allergy testing is not required.
How does the procedure work?
Juvéderm™ is an injection with a very fine small gauged needle and when injected will smooth out wrinkles or folds such as those on either side of mouth by adding volume. It is used for adding volume to thin lips or aging lips that have lost volume or curve. Acne scarring can be diminished depending on severity of the depth and location.
What kind of results can be expected?
Immediate results are seen, lines around mouth, referred to as marionette lines, lines around the side of nose to side of mouth referred to as naso-labial folds are filled in giving a smoother younger appearance. Some redness and swelling occur as it is an injection. These usually resolve within a day or two and clients will be given post care treatment regime for this. There also can be bruising as again it is an injection into the skin. We will discuss this with you at time of consult.
Where is this procedure done and who performs it?
This procedure is performed in a medical spa office under the medical directorship of Dr.Chirag Amin by a licensed Registered Nurse, trained and certified in cosmetic procedures.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for Juvéderm™?
Any adult who has concerns about deep lines from the corner of the nose to the mouth, lines around the mouth and edging into their chin; tiny vertical lines above or below the lips or would like to replace volume that time has taken away would benefit from this procedure. If you have a thin lip which often happens as we age or light acne scarring this procedure would be of great benefit.
What should I expect when I come in for an appointment?
As with any procedure of this type, clients will have a consult reviewing medical history and reasons that would be possible contraindications, also to determine realistic expectations and whether they would be appropriate. Most people have researched Juvéderm™ or know someone who has had it done and usually are informed but during the consult we will fully discuss the risks and benefits of this procedure. The first visit generally will take approximately an hour; this includes paperwork, screening pre and post photographs. If a topical ointment or an anesthetic block is used further time will need to be allotted for this and will be discussed at time of consult.
What is the cost and how is the procedure done?
The cost of this procedure is $450.00 per one ml syringe. A very small fine gauged needle is used and injections are made into the area’s of concern until the appropriate volume is added for enhancement or filling. This will be determined during consult. Results from Juvéderm™ generally last approximately 5 to 8 months, although each client is unique and results may vary. After the procedure is done you will have your post picture taken and we will go over post instructions for home. Again our priority is client satisfaction and we want you to have a safe and satisfactory procedure and we want you to leave feeling that your natural beauty has been enhanced to your satisfaction.
