What is Collagen Rejuvenation?
Collagen rejuvenation is the process of stimulating and rejuvenating the collagen (the component in our skin essential for elasticity, and for maintaining a more healthy and youthful appearance) within the skin about the face.
What areas of the body can be treated with Collagen Rejuvenation?
The face and neck to include the forehead, cheeks, nose, upper lip and chin regions are the target areas for this laser procedure.
How does the procedure work?
Collagen is what makes our face full when we are young, the laser rebuilds the collagen. The YAG laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL’s) are the preferred modalities used for nonablative collagen rejuvenation of skin. Selective laser applications generate an inflammatory type reaction, resulting in a healing process that builds collagen under the skin and strengthens and tightens tissues. The desired results are achieved when deep heating of the dermis occurs, without causing permanent skin damage.
What kind of results can I expect?
Results vary with skin type and individual physiological characteristics of the targeted skin. The treatment parameters can be finely tuned to provide the safest and most effective results possible. Usually, more than a one treatment is necessary to achieve the desired effects. Periodic (every 6 to 12 months) follow-up treatments may be necessary to maintain the desired benefits of the collagen rejuvenation procedure.
